Programas que simplesmente não abrem mais! (Banshee e Shotwell)

Olá, juro que procurei e não achei nada parecido, se houver peço perdão.

Bom vamos lá, uso o Ubuntu 14.04, estava tudo relativamente perfeito até que num belo dia ensolarado o banshee simplesmente parou de abrir, uso uma dock, se eu clicar o ícone pula como se fosse abrir e nada, se for pelo menu direitinho mesma coisa. O ponteiro começa a rodar (trabalhando) mas depois para.
Agora nessa semana a mesma coisa com o Shotwell, igualzinho, e usava muito esses dois programas.
No caso do banshee já desinstalei, desliguei o computador, re-liguei, instalei novamente pela central de programas, mesmo problema.
Com o Shotwell não cheguei a fazer esse teste.
Alguém tem alguma dica?

É meio constrangedor, na verdade nunca abri um programa pelo terminal, hehehe, desculpe.
Não sei responder o que aconteceria.
Como não tenho internet em casa eu terei que testar na hora do almoço e escrever mais tarde.
Por favor, qual o comando via terminal para esses 2 programas? Perdão pela minha ignorância mesmo, hehehe

Acredita que só hoje eu fui olhar como se abre um programa pelo terminal? É tão óbvio que nem sei como não testei antes, hehhehe
Bom, mas ainda assim foi meio corrido no horário de almoço, vou tentar trazer o notebook pra o serviço amanhã e damos continuidade ao processo!

Continua não abrindo pelo ícone do menu, mas pelo terminal, como usuário simples abriu, mas reparei que zerou as configurações de onde buscava imagens, no terminal apareceram as seguintes mensagens:

No caso do Shotwell
Ainda não abre ainda no ícone
e também não abriu no terminal como usuário comum, e deu a mensagem:

$ sudo shotwell

Agora, como usuário root ele abriu, mas reparei que, assim como o Banshee, ele zerou as configurações de onde buscaria as imagens..

Cara, por que você está abrindo o shotwell com sudo? Qual a razão de usar o super usuário?

Então, vamos lá, no caso do Shotwell:

Não abre no clicar do ícone
Não abre como usuário comum pelo terminal, e dá mensagens de erro
Só está abrindo como usuário root pelo terminal

Já experimentou trocar o Bashee pelo Rithymbox e o Shotwell por outro similar?

Sim, uso outros, mas gosto muito desses dois, Banshee e Shotwell.
Acho a aparência e funcionalidade deles mais agradável..

Abra o Nautilus, e na sua pasta, pressione ao mesmo tempo as teclas Ctrl + H para aparecer os arquivos ocultos.

Navegue até as respectivas pastas e apague-as. Não se preocupe, elas serão recriadas assim que os aplicativos forem usados!

/seu_usuario/.cache/shotwell
/seu_usuario/.local/share//shotwell

Procure pelas respectivas pastas relacionados ao Banshee e faça o mesmo procedimento.

Veja se consegue utilizá-los agora!

O cache do banshee estah em: ~/.cache/banshee-1 ou seja,

/home/seu_nome_de_usuario/.cache/banshee-1
