Bom dia todos.
I'm author of the https://launchpad.net/audio-recorder project, and I currently stay in Portugal for a few months time.

So I bought this 3G wireless USB-pen from TMN.

USB-pen 14,4Mbit ZTE MF190J

It's modem type is ZTE MF190J.

This pen is recognised by Ubuntu 12.04 and I can create a "Mobile Broadband" definition from the network icon in Ubuntu where I give the PIN-code etc.  The pen indicates a green light, but still, I cannot access the internet.

The config looks like this

Do you know if Linux-people are using this 3G USB-pen in Portugal?
Can you point me to relevant help or instructions.

One thing I noticed that Ubuntu first thinks that this USB-pin is a storage device (like a cdrom) and it mounts it to /media/ZTEMODEM.  I have to "Eject" this mount point first, then Linux reloads the wifi driver for this pin.

I may have to use the "/usr/sbin/usb_modeswitch" tool to disable mounting of this device, but it needs a lot of parameters to succeed.

Hello,
I gave it a try. Unfortunately it does not report any wlan* drivers.
This laptop has a built-in Atheros wifi driver, so I need to disable it first.
$ sudo modprobe -r ath5k

Then i connect the TMN USB-pin. Also, I have to "Eject" it. Then it blinks red.. and 5 seconds second later green light appears.
$ ifconfig -a
